This is your chance to experience a local dinner party! And not in a random home, but that of Batur Durmay, who is the owner and managing director of Asitane Restaurant, which is the first Ottoman cuisine restaurant in Istanbul.
You might have heard about Asitane, since it has been widely covered by travel and food media, including Antony Bourdain’s episode in Istanbul. It is the first restaurant to serve Ottoman cuisine and not only any dish that was cooked during the Ottoman era, but those that were cooked in the palace kitchen.
Batur, the owner of the restaurant, who is a foodie and a great cook himself, lives in a flat on the Asian side of Istanbul, in a popular neighborhood called ‘Moda’. This special dinner will be prepared by him and his wife for you.
It will include the following:
- Several types of ‘meze’s (cold appetizers)
- Meat or fish depending on the season and your preference (they make sure to get the freshest one)
- Rakı (our national drink – aniseed flavored)
- Traditional music
- Needless to say, great conversation about Turkish food
The rate per person is 120 EUR + VAT for this experience. We will help you organize your transfer to the venue as well.
